Job description

The Golf Sales Manager's primary responsibility is selling tee times and packages on The Sea Pines Resort's three premier courses. This agent will also assist the Reservations Agents with selling, booking, and following up social reservations as well as up-selling Sea Pines amenities. Reports directly to Golf Sales Manager.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Sell and accurately book tee times and packages on all resort courses.

· Sell and accurately book lodging accommodations and packages.

· Promptly and efficiently respond to leads generated through Seapines.com or any other outlets.

· Process tee times reservations booked online.

· Assist with quotes, reservations and correspondence with third party wholesale customers and travel agents. Responsible for proper communication of applicable rates seasonally, reservation confirmations and securing payment.

· Sell accommodations to social guests and book reservations for the Inn at Harbour Town as well in homes and villas on the Sea Pines rental program.

· Perform follow-up activities on existing reservations by collecting deposits, mailing confirmations, calling guests regarding moves, processing cancellation requests, etc.

The impact of decision-making and the potential gain or loss to the resort in performing the job responsibilities.

The decision-making must ensure good guest service while seeking to maximize resort sales revenue. Considerable direct costs (refunds, rebates, etc.) may occur if guests are displeased with their reservations. Increased resort revenues from up-selling, cross-selling, and additional business can result from high levels of performance in the job. This position books, on average, $1 million in social guest rentals annually.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as sales forecasts, Lodging reports, operating instructions, and procedure manuals. Need good verbal skills including grammar and diction. Ability to speak easily and effectively with a diverse mixture of guests and other departments in the resort.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to apply them as needed on the job.

QUALIFICATIONS

Strong computer skills with the ability to learn and effectively use a variety of software systems. Must have a working knowledge of golf. Sales experience is desirable. Ability to present information quickly and effectively. Ability to interact effectively (sales) by telephone with guests, members and clients. Ability to project a service-mentality with a caring attitude while maintaining efficiency and resort revenue optimization. Must have excellent communication and guest service skills and be capable of effectively handling difficult guests and guest complaints.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or computer form. Often works alone so must be able to react quickly and effectively in handling requests in a courteous, friendly, and efficient manner. Must be responsible, self-motivated, and self-directed. Agents decide with almost every call what accommodation would best fill the callers needs and to sell those accommodations and other amenities to their client. The majority of reservations are booked and/or canceled with no need of supervisory approval/intervention. Agents are responsible for assuring their clients receive the accommodations they were sold and for responding to any misunderstandings regarding such accommodations when necessary.

REQUIRED SKILLS

· Knowledgeable of golf and golf industry trends

· Experience in the game of golf and an understanding of the golf services available at Sea Pines Resort and other destination courses

· Experience in sales and customer experience

· Positive and enthusiastic, taking joy in other’s successes as well as your own

· Able to communicate in an engaging and understandable manner about all of the golf related services that the resort offers in order to close business

· Independent thinker; detail oriented; team player

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE :

· Bachelor’s degree in sales, marketing, or hospitality management preferred

· Successful history in delivering sales success (golf sales experience preferred)

· Superior communication, negotiation, and customer service skills

Valid Driver’s License
