SUMMARY: Under general supervision, is responsible for performing ongoing inspections of construction projects to ensure they are completed per approved plans, specifications, and approved shop drawing submittals.
Duties include but are not limited to:
1.Performs inspections and observations of projects for BJWSA to ensure projects are completed per approved plans, specifications, and approved shop drawings.
2.Inspects and ensures materials on-site for projects meet specifications and are installed, tested and accepted in accordance with BJWSA technical requirements.
3.Observes installation, work in progress, and testing to ensure work and documents observations in daily inspections reports, in accord with Department requirements. Inspection reports include general notes and photographs construction progress, documenting field conditions and measurements.
4.Informs engineers and contractors of observed deficiencies, recommends corrective measures and follows up to ensure compliance. Communicates effectively with supervisors and others within the Engineering Dept.
5.Reviews plans prior to pre-construction meetings and is responsible for on-going coordination in the field of to-do items review and discussed at the pre-construction meetings.
6.For approximately 6-weeks each year, will be a part of the in-office land development design review team responsible for issuing construction permits.
7.Assists senior staff as needed and performs other duties as required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Associate’s degree in Engineering Technology or related field preferred. Must have familiarity of general and utility construction practices. Must have previous experience with computer applications and possess the ability to operator BJWSA-specific software.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Certified Erosion Prevention and Sediment Control Inspector (CEPSCI) certification preferred. Class D Water Distribution Operator and Class D Wastewater Collections license preferred. Must possess a valid driver’s license.
Inspector II:
SUMMARY: Under occasional supervision, is responsible for performing ongoing inspections of private-development projects to ensure they are completed per approved plans, specifications, and approved shop drawing submittals.
Duties include but are not limited to:
1.Performs preliminary inspections, final inspections, and observations of construction projects for BJWSA to ensure projects are completed per plans, specifications, and approved shop drawing submittals.
2.Documents and records construction observations with a daily inspection report at each site/each day. Takes general notes and photographs construction progress, documenting field conditions and measurements.
3.Inspects and ensures materials onsite for projects meet specifications and approved shop drawing submittals and are installed in accordance with BJWSA Technical Specifications.
4.Observes installation, work in progress, start-up, and testing to ensure work is completed in accordance with BJWSA requirements.
5.Coordinates with BJWSA personnel, and contractors to facilitate tie-in to existing system and construction of new systems.
6.Approves minor changes to the approved plans and specifications as necessitated by unexpected field conditions with prior coordination with BJWSA Engineering Leadership.
7.During construction, coordinates with developer’s engineer and contractor to ensure compliance with applicable permitting agencies.
8.Informs engineering and contractors of observed deficiencies, recommends corrective measures and follows-up to ensure compliance. Generates punch-list and coordinates with the contractor to verily work is completed.
9.Reviews plans prior to pre-construction meetings and is responsible for on-going coordination in the field of to-do items review and discussed at the pre-construction meetings.
10.Recommends projects for service authorization by verification of close-out documents.
11.Performs warranty inspections.
12.For approximately 6-weeks each year, will be a part of the in-office land development design review team responsible for issuing construction permits.
13.Assist senior staff as needed and performs other duties as required.

Inspector III:

8.Coordinates requests for information (RFIs), change requests, field orders, and change directives with engineer and BJWSA personnel for capital projects. Reviews quantities on pay applications. Works closely with ConstructionEngineers.
9.During construction, coordinates with developer’s engineer and contractor to ensure compliance with applicable permitting agencies.
10.Informs engineering and contractors of observed deficiencies, recommends corrective measures and follows-up to ensure compliance. Generates punch-list and coordinates with the contractor to verily work is completed.
11.Recommends projects for service authorization by verification of close-out documents.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Certified Erosion Prevention and Sediment Control Inspector (CEPSCI) certification, Class B Water Distribution Operator and Class B Wastewater Collections license required, or ability to obtain within 1-year. Must possess a valid driver’s license.
