Description
The purpose of this position is to be responsible for long- and short-term planning, daily operations, and airport compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This class works independently, under limited supervision, reporting major activities through periodic meetings. The Airport Manager reports to the Airports Director.

Examples of Duties
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The essential functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.
• Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff, processing employee concerns and problems, directing work, counseling, disciplining, and completing employee performance appraisals.
• Coordinates, assigns and reviews work and establishes work schedules; maintains standards; monitors status of work in progress; inspects completed work assignments; answers questions; gives advice and direction as needed.
• Performs administrative tasks associated with the proper operation of the airport business.
• Maintains inventory control of airport equipment; initiates orders for new/replacement materials; receives and receipts fuel deliveries.
• Develops and implements long- and short-term plans, goals, and objectives for the airport.
• Supervises/performs maintenance activities to ensure safe, secure airfield conditions for aircraft operations and security of airport facilities.
• Conducts necessary inspections, tests, and other quality control activities to ensure discrepancies are identified.
• Develops and implements operational and capital budgets for the airport.
• Coordinates and supervises all daily activities at the airport.
• Performs related work as assigned.

Typical Qualifications
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
• Requires High School graduation or GED equivalent supplemented by specialized courses/training equivalent to completion of one (1) year of college.
• Over two years and up to and including four years of related experience.

SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES:
• Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.

Supplemental Information
All applicants tentatively selected for a position with Beaufort County Council will be required to submit to urinalysis to screen for the illegal use of drugs and to a background check prior to appointment.
